Installation

ShipRules AI installs directly from the Shopify App Store. The whole process takes about two minutes.

Install the app

Find ShipRules AI in the Shopify App Store

Go to the Shopify App Store and search for “ShipRules AI”, or use the direct link from our website.
Click “Add app” and approve permissions

Shopify will ask you to approve the following permissions:
- Read shipping zones — so ShipRules AI can see which countries and regions you ship to.
- Write shipping rates — so ShipRules AI can register as a carrier service and provide custom rates at checkout.
- Read products — so ShipRules AI can match rules against product tags, vendors, SKUs, and titles.
- Read orders — so ShipRules AI can track analytics and shadow mode comparisons.
These are the minimum permissions needed. ShipRules AI never modifies your products, orders, or store settings.
Wait for the initial sync

After installation, ShipRules AI automatically:
- Syncs your Shopify shipping zones (countries and regions you ship to)
- Registers itself as a carrier service with Shopify
- Creates a “Default” product group that includes all your products
This usually takes under 30 seconds.
You’re ready to create rules

Once the sync is complete, you’ll see the ShipRules AI dashboard. Your existing Shopify shipping zones appear in the sidebar, and you can start creating shipping methods and rules right away.

What happens at checkout

After installation, every checkout in your store sends a rate request to ShipRules AI. The app evaluates your rules and returns the matching shipping options to the customer. This happens in real time, usually in under 200ms.

If you haven’t created any shipping methods in ShipRules AI yet, the app returns no rates — your existing Shopify shipping rates still show as normal.
